The repairs will be paid for from a grant.

According to officials, improvements can be electrical upgrades, heating, cooling and plumbing, roofs, windows and doors, and safety modifications such as bathroom upgrades, ramps, widening of doors to accommodate wheelchairs and lighting.

The maximum grant is estimated at $15,000.

To qualify:

Total household income cannot exceed $32,000 for a single occupant, $45,700 for four occupants, or $60,350 for a household of eight occupants.

Applications can be picked up at Bedford City Hall or Lawrence County Senior Citizens, 2205 Washington Ave. Applications are due April 30.
