BNL Music Dept. Hosting State Qualifications Tonight, Saturday

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford North Lawrence High School Music Department is hosting Indiana State School Music Association’s State Qualifications Contest for bands, orchestras and choirs tonight and Saturday.

The top 16 scoring bands, choirs and the top eight orchestras from around the state will advance to the state finals in Indianapolis the following weekend.

The event is free to attend.

The contest begins tonight at 7 p.m. with the Floyd Central Orchestra; the last group to perform is the Evansville Harrison Concert Band at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday performances begin at 8:30 a.m. with band and orchestras performing until 2:10 p.m.

Choirs will be performing beginning at 2:50 p.m. and continuing until 6:20 p.m.

The BNL Chorale will perform at 2:50 p.m.

The BNL bands and orchestras will not perform because they went to contest two weeks ago at Floyd Central.

Students from the following high schools, in addition to Floyd Central and Evansville Harrison, will perform during the weekend: Bloomington South, Bloomington North, Columbus North, Jeffersonville, F.J. Reitz, Jasper, Castle, Seymour, Martinsville, Indian Creek, Southridge, Franklin Community and Evansville North.
