(BLOOMINGTON) - Bam! Zap! Pow! Expect to find heroes and villains exchanging their weapons for whisks on May 13, as guests dip into 100 culinary delights whipped up by local "celebrity" chefs.

The seventh annual Bloomington 100 Men Who Cook - "Heroes and Villains" will benefit the IU Health Children's Therapy Center's 2017 Assisted Technology and Mobility Initiative.

The event will be held at the Monroe Convention Center and is open to anyone who loves to eat delicious food while supporting the good health of our local community. Chefs will prepare a dish in one of the categories of appetizer, soup, salad, side dish, main dish or dessert. Participants are encouraged to "tip" their favorite chefs - with all money going to charity but all bragging rights going to those with the most tips.

Chefs include actual local chefs, business executives, business owners, physicians, retirees, neighbors and friends! They all share a knack for creating great-tasting dishes and are excited to share their favorite recipes with the community.

Proceeds from both the event and the tip jars will go directly to the Children's Therapy Center where they will be used for technology and mobility equipment including:

  • Assisted communication devices for non-verbal children
  • iPads with specialized therapeutic apps
  • Biofeedback equipment to assist with walking
  • Adaptive seating devices
  • Shading sails for Exploration Island playground.

In its 25 years, the Children's Therapy Center has served more than 12,000 children, providing physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and social services. The center is accredited as a Pediatric Specialty Program and is the only program in the state of Indiana to hold this important accreditation.

With a focus on family-centered care, the IU Health Children's Therapy Center is proud to offer a wide range of specialty services and skills thanks to the purchase of needed equipment and the offering of staff training and education that is supported by donations to the center through the Bloomington Hospital Foundation and events like 100 Men Who Cook.
