Weather Alert Radio Programming Event Saturday

Last updated on Friday, March 17, 2017

(DUBOIS CO.) - To assist county residents with their weather alert radios, the Dubois County Emergency Management Agency is hosting a radio programming event.

NOAA weather radio operates 24 hours a day and is a reliable source of timely weather information such as severe weather, Tornado Watches and Tornado Warnings. The advanced alerts provided by this service can be a life saver. Many weather radios currently on the market have Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) capability allowing users to choose the counties for which they want to receive weather watches and warnings. However, programming these radios can be confusing; Dubois County Emergency Management would like to help.

The Dubois County Emergency Management Agency will be holding a NOAA Weather Radio Programming Drive Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. EDT at Rural King, 1920 Lube Way, Jasper.

During this event you can bring your NOAA weather radio to Rural King and Dubois County Emergency Management volunteers will program your weather radio for you free of charge.

Please bring the manual that came with your radio and batteries.
