(BLOOMINGTON) - An all-gender bathroom sign, partially ripped off a wall on the third floor of the Frances Morgan Swain Student Building at Indiana University has been classified as a hate crime.

IU Police Lt. William Munroe, says what qualifies this as a hate crime is the sign was for an all-gender bathroom and the word "men" was written on the wall where the sign had been previously attached.

Police logs indicate the crime happened around 6 p.m. The estimated damage was valued at $50.

Lt. Munroe says they have no suspects at this time, but they are checking security cameras that may have captured the incident.

The case remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call campus police at (812) 855-6706.
