Theresa Porter To Serve As City Of Bloomington's Director of Planning And Transportation Department

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton announced that Theresa (Terri) Porter will serve the City of Bloomington as its Director of Planning and Transportation.

Porter was the original executive director of the Bloomington Enterprise Association and went on to serve as the chief operating officer of a multi-state area for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Most recently, Porter served as a Senior Advisor in HUD's Indianapolis field office.

Porter will lead the Planning and Transportation Department through the balance of the Comprehensive Master Plan development as well as the ongoing functions of project and mobility management and engineering and for the city. Planning and zoning responses are coordinated through this department of 23 employees.

"With the hiring of Terri Porter the city gains a dynamic, proven leader who will take a creative approach to growing Bloomington's quality of life through fair and sustainable planning practices. Her demonstrated record of creative problem-solving and collaboration will be a great asset. We welcome Ms. Porter and look forward to the important and long lasting work product that she, the department and the community will produce together in the coming years," commented Mayor John Hamilton.

Porter received her Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University and holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is the President-Elect of the American Society for Public Administration, Indiana Chapter, a Bloomington Housing Authority Commissioner, and a member of the Monroe County Economic Development Commission.

Porter is set to begin in her new role on Monday, April 10. Her salary will be $90,100.
