(NASHVILLE) - A former Brown County teen was sentenced to almost a year in jail after pleading guilty to slashing tires on Artist Drive last July.
19-year-old Lavelle Albert of Bloomington was charged with 41 counts of criminal mischief after he allegedly slashed tires on 27 vehicles on Artist and Wells drives in downtown Nashville. Police say the incidents happened on July 29, 2016.
He was released from jail on his own recognizance on October 18, 2016, but on November 28th, Albert failed to appear for a court hearing and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arrested and held on a $2,000 cash bond.
On February 28th, Albert pleaded guilty to all charges in a negotiated plea deal.
Brown County Circuit Judge Judith Stewart sentenced Albert to 1,230 days in the Brown County jail, with 914 days suspended. That time will be served on supervised probation. He was also ordered to serve 40 hours of community service, complete a substance abuse evaluation and pay $35 a week in restitution to the victims to a total of $8,405.59. He also was ordered to stay off Artist Drive as a condition of his probation.
