(FAYETTEVILLE) - Indian Creek Township Trustee Kyle Hall and the township's fire department still have not agreed on a contract for fire coverage.

A public meeting will be held April 6 at the Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department located on State Road 158. There they will discuss the current contract situation.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will be moderated by fire department officials.

Indian Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department recently presented Hall with a revised contract for 2017 and 2018, to continue fire coverage for the township. But Hall wants a guarantee that an engine (pumper) is in the township at all times - either an engine from Indian Creek or one from another department.

In the new contract presented to Hall, Indian Creek says they will "try to keep at least one unit within the confines of Indian Creek Township when assisting other fire departments on calls outside the township," and "if the situation demands that the fire department responds with the engine outside of the township, the fire department agrees to request on-station standby by Williams, Perry Township, or Oolitic Volunteer Fire Departments (at their respective stations) or request that a department bring an engine to within the township borders of Indian Creek until said time that the fire department is able to bring their engine back within the township borders of Indian Creek."

In addition, a joint offer between ICVFD and Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department proposed to Hall that they affirm the mutual aid agreements between township fire departments, explaining "when feasible in regard to staffing and equipment and availability, a department will assist when called upon to provide equipment and/or manpower standby to another department."

But Hall is not happy with the contained language in that contract and says the mutual aid agreement is bothersome. Hall says once he has a guarantee in writing that an engine will be in at the station at all times he will sign the contract.
