Last updated on Monday, March 20, 2017

(ORLEANS) - Orange County police arrested 40-year-old Adam Hill on a charge of attempted murder after Hill went looking for a man who was in a red truck and had swerved to strike Hill’s wife.

He is also facing charges of criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance with an enhancing circumstance. He is was released after posting a $500,000 cash bond.

According to an Orange County Circuit Court probable cause affidavit, on March 10 at 2:56 p.m. Orange County Sheriff deputies were called to a home in the 4100 block of West County Road 540 North after a report that Hill was going to the home to kill a man because he had attempted to strike Hill's wife with a truck.

Earlier, an Indiana State Police detective had talked to Hill's wife about the incident in which she claims a man in a red Dodge truck swerved at her on Orangeville Road. She gave police the identity of the man she believed swerved at her, however she wasn't sure it was him driving.

Hill told the detective he was going to kill the man at the home where the man was staying.

When Orange County police arrived at the home they found Hill sitting in his truck and was pointing to the red Dodge truck.

When the ISP detective arrived, Hill exited his truck.

That is when the Orange County deputy noticed Hill was carrying a gun in a holster.

Both officers pulled their guns and ordered Hill to put his hands up, but he refused. He did not reach for his gun and police apprehended Hill.

Police say Hill was armed with a Sig Sauer P220 which had a fully loaded magazine and a bullet in the chamber.

After being arrested Hill told police there were more guns in his truck. Police located four additional weapons, all of which were loaded and within reach of the driver's seat.

Hill told police that he wasn't going to kill the man unless he came outside with a gun.

Police attempted to find the man Hill was trying to kill, but could not locate him.

However, an officer noticed the red Dodge truck was still hot with a set of keys lying on the floorboard. The officer also noticed a glass smoking pipe between the driver's seat and middle console.

The man, accused of swerving at Hill's wife, arrived a short time later with another person.

Police removed the man from the truck and he admitted he was driving the truck on Orangeville Road but denied swerving at Hill's wife.

The man also denied the smoking device was his.

Charges have not been filed against the man in relation to the drug paraphernalia.

Hill was arrested and transported to the Orange County Jail. While being processed jail officers found Hill had a metal pill container with three Lorazepam pills. Hill claimed he had a prescription for the pills.
