Mitchell Man Arrested After Running From Police

(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested after he ran from Mitchell police during a traffic stop on Friday.

According to police, a Mitchell police officer stopped 36-year-old Matthew Stigall after they found him traveling 80 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone on State Road 37.

Stigall pulled into a driveway on Woodville Road, then jumped out of the vehicle and took off running.

As he was running, Stigall threw down several pill bottles.

Stigall was arrested on one felony count of resisting arrest and two misdemeanor courts of resisting arrest and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. He is being held in the Lawrence County Jail on a $7,500 surety or $7,500 cash bond.
