(FERDINAND) - Bedford native and rising country music star Clayton Anderson will perform Saturday night, June 17, headlining a free night of entertainment during the 2017 Ferdinand Heimatfest.

The 2017 Ferdinand Heimatfest is presented by MasterBrand Cabinets.

Anderson will take the stage at 8:30 p.m.

Opening for Anderson at 7 p.m. EDT will be Christine Nicole.

In the past five years, Clayton Anderson has managed to do the unthinkable - he's cracked into country music backwards, independently and with a fury. Opening for some of country's biggest stars, including Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Kenny Chesney, Sara Evans, Lee Brice, Wynonna, Joe Diffie and Jimmy Buffett, Clayton has put himself on the map the old-fashioned way - playing backrooms, side stages and honky-tonks from Michigan to Florida, each time gaining a few more fans and a better foothold on areas that aren't traditional country strongholds.

Growing up in Bedford, Clayton's influences include music from Elvis Presley to Conway Twitty, Garth Brooks to Kenny Chesney, Johnny Cash to Eric Church, and Bruce Springsteen to Indiana's own John Mellencamp.

Clayton began playing music as a hobby in college at Indiana University in Bloomington, and after a few years playing locally, he won Kenny Chesney's Next Big Star competition. At that point, Clayton quit his day job, moved to Nashville and decided to pour his heart and soul into music. In November 2016, Clayton released his newest album, Only To Borrow, a six-song EP that puts him farther down the road to achieving nationwide success.

The album's first single, "In The Dark", gained immediate streaming activity online and its music video was premiered by CMT Music in February. Anderson co-wrote five of the tunes and also co-produced four. Some of Nashville's most talented writers, musicians, singers and producers made inspired contributions to the EP. Clayton remarks, "Only To Borrow had a very different start-to-finish journey than my previous two releases. I honestly believe it's the best work that I've done up to this point. Our goal is to get it out to the most folks possible." Anderson continues to tour the country, prominently featuring songs from Only To Borrow in live performances.

Christine Nicole, a country music singer out of Indianapolis, is scheduled to open for Anderson on Saturday evening, at 7 p.m.

Nicole is influenced by artists such as Faith Hill, Shania Twain and Martina McBride. She has opened for artists such as Greg Bates, Colt Ford, Charlie Worsham and Craig Campbell.

Ferdinand Heimatfest will be held at 18th Street Park on June 16 and 17. Heimatfest features great games for kids, a variety of contests, delicious food, a beer garden and entertainment. Visit the Ferdinand Heimatfest Facebook page here to stay up to date on the latest information available.
