(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man was arrested Sunday after police say he was posing as an officer.

Police arrested 55-year-old William Howe on a charge of impersonating a public servant.

According to police, a woman called at 7:30 a.m. Sunday and reported that she was in her car in the parking lot of the Building and Trades Park on West Second Street.

She told police that a man made her feel very uncomfortable when he made eye contact with her as she pulled into the Building and Trades Park, so she left.

As she pulled out of the lot, the man, in a blue 2003 Chevrolet Caviler, followed her to a gas station and then followed her to a parking lot at the Bloomington Police Department.

The woman says the man got out of his car and approached hers and asked if she had a problem with him and then stated he was an undercover police officer and that she should not return to the park.

The woman reported the incident to police, who spotted Howe's car at Second and Morton streets and conducted a traffic stop.

Police say Howe admitted to following the woman because she gave him "a dirty look and the finger," but he denied claiming he was an officer.

Howe was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Jail where he is being held on a $4,500 bond.
