(BLOOMNGTON) - A Bloomington couple was arrested Tuesday after a suspicious-smelling package was intercepted by United State Postal inspectors.

Bloomington Police arrested 34-year-old Larry Gibbons on a felony charge of dealing cocaine, dealing in marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance. Also arrested was 27-year-old Eureka Gordon. She received a felony charge of maintaining a common nuisance and possession of marijuana.

Bloomington police were contacted Tuesday afternoon by United States postal inspectors who intercepted a package that smelled like it contained marijuana and wanted the Bloomington Police Department's assistance in making a controlled delivery.

According to Bloomington Police Sgt. Dana Cole, the postal inspector and police arranged a controlled delivery of the package to its intended address: an apartment in the 2500 South Rockport Road.

Once the package was delivered and Gibbons took possession of it, investigators asked Gibbons to open the package which contained vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana.

From the door of the home police noticed a metal grinder and a rubber-banded stack of currency on the living room table, as well as a digital scale and a vacuum-sealer in the kitchen.

The detective asked Gibbons if he could search the residence. Gibbons declined, so police secured the area and obtained a search warrant.

During the search police found several bags of cocaine and marijuana in a dresser drawers, several glass jars containing marijuana, two handguns atop a dresser and inside drawers. Inside a hallway closet, there was another jar of marijuana. Inside a black backpack hanging on a kitchen chair, yet another jar of marijuana. A third handgun was in a back bedroom and on the coffee table, $3,700 in cash.

The police have not assessed a total amount of the drugs found, however they stated there was more than 10 grams of cocaine and more than 30 grams of marijuana seized.

Gibbons told police the marijuana and guns were his. He says the marijuana in the glass jars belonged to Gordon.

He told police he used to sell marijuana, but that the cocaine was for his personal use.

Both were arrested and taken to Monroe County Correctional Center. Gibbons is being held without bond. Gordon bond is set at $2,500.
