(UNDATED) - Grant applications are now available for local organizations helping children practice their green thumbs.

The George E. Archer Foundation is accepting applications for funding to support children's gardening programs at schools and youth-serving nonprofit organizations in eight counties: Bartholomew, Brown, Greene, Jackson, Lawrence, Monroe, Morgan and Owen.

Funding may be requested up to $1,000 for each qualifying project. Organizations that are interested in applying for larger grants may submit a letter of inquiry in advance. The Archer Foundation does not fund staff salaries.
