Annual Wildflower Hike Planned For Bedford's Feldun Purdue Ag Center

(BEDFORD) - Plans have been finalized for the annual White River RC&D Wildflower Hike on Saturday, April 15.

The popular event will be held at Feldun-Purdue Ag Center in Lawrence County. The wildflower hike will be led by Kay Yatskievych, author of Field Guide to Indiana Wildflowers and Carroll Ritter of Outdoor Connections.

There are two identical hikes to accommodate the numbers of people who always want to come. A morning and afternoon session will be offered, each led by Yatskievych and Ritter. A maximum of 25 people are accepted for each session and the hikes fill up fast.

In between the sessions, hikers are encourage join in a picnic lunch. The comradery of eating together outdoors is always fun. Cookies and water are provided.

A modest $15 fee is charged, $10 for students. Registration for the morning hike begins at 10 a.m. with the morning hike from 10:30 to 11:45. The afternoon hike will be from 12:15 to about 1:30.

Feldun-Purdue Agricultural Center is at 1117 State Road 458 west of Bedford, IN. Follow the signs to the registration area on the Farm.

Participants are encouraged to bring their cameras and wear sturdy shoes. Dogs are not allowed. The hikes will be held in light rain, but will be canceled in case of storms.
