(SALEM) - The Washington County Sheriff’s Department received a tip from a concerned citizen Thursday afternoon, regarding the possible location of a silver Honda car involved in an hit and run accident on East Blue River Road Monday.
The caller reported the vehicle was traveling on the same road the accident happened.
Sheriff Roger Newlon says officers were quickly dispatched to the area along with an Indiana State trooper.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver taken to the Washington County Sheriff's Department where he was interviewed by Sheriff Newlon.
"The driver, 20-year-old Dalton Peacok, was cooperative and admitted to being involved in a crash on Blue River Road earlier this week," Newlon says.
Peacock, of New Philadelphia Road, in Salem, Indiana was arrested and jailed at the Washington County Detention Center on one count of failure to stop after an accident. Accident.
Earlier - Washington County Police are looking for the driver of a late 1990 silver or gray Honda passenger car that rear-ended an Amish buggy and then fled the scene.
The accident happened Monday at 1:49 a.m. in the 12510 block of East Blue River Road.
According to Washington County Deputy Sheriff Brent Miller, the vehicle left behind a bumper with an orange license plate on the front of the vehicle with "Kubota" on the license plate.
According to police, the Amish buggy, with two occupants was traveling south on East Blue River Road when a vehicle struck the buggy in the rear and then fled the scene.
The impact ejected both occupants from the buggy and caused it to flip upside down.
None of the occupants were injured.
