Last updated on Wednesday, February 22, 2017

(AVOCA) - A Solsberry man was arrested after police found drugs in his car.

Lawrence County Police arrested 37-year-old Jason Krise on charges of possession of meth, possession of a Schedule I and Schedule III controlled substances, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance.

Police were called to the stop light at State Road 37 and ind. 54/58 just after 5 p.m. after a report of an erratic driver in a gold Honda Accord. The caller told police the driver had fallen asleep or passed out at the traffic light at the Avoca exit.

An officer responded to the area and saw the Honda and noticed the driver, Krise, was not wearing a seat belt.

After approaching the car and asking for the driver's license and registration, the officer noticed a drop of blood on the inside of his arm.

"When the driver was asked about the blood on his arm, he said he had a problem and he had been to rehab," added Sheriff Mike Branham.

The officers asked Krise to perform a field sobriety test, which he failed. Krise was arrested.

During the test, a second officer on the scene noticed two syringes in the driver's seat.

During a search of the car, police found small baggies, syringes, cooking spoons and cotton. Officers also found a bag that contained a white-powdery substance that tested positive for meth and a gray substance that tested positive for heroin.

They also found a mason jar containing smoking devices and a separate container inside the jar that contained a green-leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana and a Suboxone strip.

Krise was booked into the Lawrence County jail and posted a $755 cash bond the same day and was released.
