Police Continue To Investigate Shed Fire

Last updated on Thursday, February 2, 2017

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Police continue to investigate a shed fire on Skyline Drive.

The fire was reported at 5:06 p.m. in the 400 block of Victorian Drive, but when Bedford Fire Department firefighters arrived they found it was behind that location on Skyline Drive.

The shed was destroyed and there was damage to the siding on two trailers.

"The fire was set by a 13-year-old male," says Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley. "There was a 9-year-old male also in the shed when the fire started."

Police say the children were in the shed when the 13-year-old caught a chair on fire. The fire spread, destroying the shed and damaging the adjacent trailers.

Officials are not saying what the child used to start the fire.

"The case is currently under investigation," Chief Parsley says. "The mother of and the 13-year-old are coming to the station later today for use to explain the process on what will happen next."

The information will be sent to the Lawrence County Prosecutor's Office and Probation to determine if charges will be filed.
