Pickup Crashes Into Newlon's Grocery Store

Last updated on Monday, February 27, 2017

(PEKIN) - A pickup crashed into the old Newlon’s Grocery store in Pekin on Sunday morning.

Washington County Sheriff Roger Newlon says Daniel Floyd, who is in his 20s, was traveling southeast on Ind. 60 when his pickup left the west side of the roadway. The truck traveled through the front yard of a home next to Newlon's, clipped a car parked between the house and the store and then drove through the front of the store.

Floyd suffered a gash to his head, but refused medical attention by the ambulance crew. Regardless, he was still taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

The vehicle was pulled from the building just before 10 a.m.

The business was up for sale.
