Permits For All-Terrain Vehicles Available At Mitchell Police Department

Last updated on Tuesday, February 28, 2017

(MITCHELL) - Permits for all-terrain utility vehicles are now available for purchase at the Mitchell Police Department.

The cost is $25 for the annual permit.

Operators must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license to operate the vehicles.

The vehicle must be registered with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and the owner of the vehicle must then register it with the city of Mitchell. The vehicle must be inspected by a Mitchell Police officer to make sure the headlights, taillights and brakes work and ensure that the vehicle has a rearview mirror. This needs to be done before it will be allowed on the road. It also must be outfitted with a safety orange pennant or flag or slow-moving vehicle emblem.

For more information call the Mitchell Police Department at (812) 849-2151
