Last updated on Monday, February 6, 2017

(MITCHELL) - An Orleans man suffered severe bleeding to his leg after he crashed his motorcycle on Parks Implement Road on Friday.

Mitchell Police officer Ryan Duckett applied a tourniquet to the leg after receiving advice from a nurse who stopped to assist.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 65-year-old Robin Taylor was flown by a StatFlight medical helicopter to a Louisville hospital for treatment.

According to police, Taylor was traveling west on Parks Implement Road and at the same time 24-year-old Zachary Richardson of Orleans was traveling north on Ind. 37 in his 1999 Ford Escort.

Police and witnesses say Taylor did not stop at the stop sign and rode his motorcycle into the path of Richardson's car.

Assisting at the scene was an AMR ambulance and Marion Township Fire Department.
