Morning Pursuit With Motorcycle Lands Dubois County Man In Jail

Last updated on Thursday, February 16, 2017

(HUNTINGBURG) - A Thursday morning pursuit with a motorcycle ended with the arrest of a Dubois County man.

At 8:25 a.m. this morning, Trooper Brock Werne was patrolling State Road 64 just west of Huntingburg when he observed a blue Yamaha motorcycle traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed. Werne activated his emergency lights in an attempt to pull over the motorcycle, but the driver accelerated away at speeds more than 100 miles per hour.

Werne continued pursuing the fleeing motorcycle onto Styline Drive, County Road 500 South, and eventually County Road 400 West, where the driver turned into the parking lot at Styline and attempted to hide. Werne found the motorcycle and driver hiding between a truck and the building, and arrested 43-year-old Daniel Aaserud of Holland, without incident.

Aaserud was driving on a suspended license, had expired motorcycle license plates, and was wanted on a writ of attachment through Pike County for failing to pay child support. He is also facing charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, driving with a suspended driver's license with a prior conviction and reckless driving.

Aaserud was taken to the Dubois County Security Center where he is being held on a $750 cash bond.
