Last updated on Tuesday, February 21, 2017

(BLOOMINGTON) - The Foundations in Science and Mathematics is offering summer courses for high school students at Indiana University.

These two-week summer courses are designed to help local students prepare for upcoming high school science and mathematics courses. The courses will emphasize important introductory concepts and tools in order to provide a strong foundation for later learning.

All students are welcome to attend, but keep in mind that most of these courses are designed for students who will attend high school in the fall.

Courses will be offered in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Astronomy, Pyschology, Neuroscience, and Computer Science. Students can sign up for more than one class. This year will feature the addition of courses in Brian Science, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, and
Evolutionary Biology.

Class sizes will be capped at 15 students, in order to provide more individualized attention and create a better learning environment.

The cost is $25 per course.

The courses will meet three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) for approximately 2 hours a day. Courses are taught by Indiana University graduate students. The courses will meet in the Physics Department in Swain Hall West (727 E. Third St.), Swain Hall East (729 E. 3rd St.), Jordan Hall (1001 E. 3rd St.), Lindley Hall (150 S. Woodlawn), and the Chemistry Building (800 E. Kirkwood Ave) - all on the IU campus. IU parking permits are available for purchase upon request.

Courses are designed to provide summer enrichment and build a firm foundation for college courses.
