Fire Destroys Springville Home

(SPRINGVILLE) - A fire destroyed a home at 435 Poplar Way in Springville on Tuesday afternoon.

When firefighters from Perry, Oolitic and Marshall Townships Volunteer Fire Departments arrived just after Noon the home was engulfed in flames.

Alan Weldy, his wife Sarah and their three children were not home when the fire started.

Perry Township Fire Department Asst. Chief Max Peters says the shed-like house was destroyed when firefighters arrived and all they could do was contain the blaze and keep it from spreading.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Firefighters were on the scene until 2:36 p.m.

Assisting at the scene was Tabernacle of Praise Emergency Services, an AMR ambulance and Lawrence County Sheriff deputies.
