Daviess County Teen Injured In Crash

(WASHINGTON) - A 19-year-old girl was flown from Daviess County to Evansville after her car was hit by a semi on Thursday morning.

The accident was reported around 7:30 a.m.

According to police, Abigail Kelsey was in a 2006 Nissan on State Road 57 at Sandy Hook Curve south of Washington and went off the right side of the road and over-corrected.

Daviess County Deputy JR Crew says she shot across the road and was t-boned by a semi driven by 72-year-old Billy J. Like, of Petersburg. The truck was a log truck, but was not loaded.

Deputy Crew says Kelsey was partially ejected from the car.

Kelsey was taken to Daviess Community Hospital and then flown by Air Evac to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville with head, chest, shoulder and pelvis injuries.

Like was not injured.

Police say alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash.
