(ANDERSON) - The Bedford North Lawrence Girls Bowling Squad have become the first local team to make it to the state finals after placing third at Saturday’s Anderson Semistate at Championship Lanes.
The Times-Mail reports the ladies did this without having any hometown lanes to practice on and relying on sponsorships to fund their sport.
Freshmen Hallee Gabhart, Macii Miller, Sapphire Deckard and Salma Hackler and sophomore Brina Wilcoxon rolled their way into the annals by placing fourth overall during the 12-game qualifying round, then winning its first match in the four-team stepladder roll-off round before falling.
BNL advances to the State Finals at Pro Bowl West Saturday in Fort Wayne.
Hallee Gabhart finished fourth in singles to earn a spot in the State Singles tournament.
