Bloomington Teen Cited Into Court After Threatening Neighbor With Knife

Last updated on Tuesday, February 14, 2017

(BLOOMINGTON) - A 17-year-old Bloomington male was cited into court Saturday afternoon after he allegedly threatened a neighbor with a knife.

Bloomington Police were called to the 100 block of South Kimble Drive after a 37-year-old man reported he and the teen had got into an argument about a theft that happened last year.

The man then went inside his trailer to make a phone call and that is when he noticed the teen and a female standing in his yard.

The caller told police he went back outside and confronted the two. That is when the teen pulled a knife from his pocket and threatened to slit the man's wife's throat.

The neighbor went back inside and called police.

The teen told police that his neighbor had confronted him about the theft and he felt threatened and was worried about his safety and that of his siblings. So he pulled his knife to defend himself. He denied threatening to harm his neighbor's wife.

Officers detained the teenager and contacted juvenile probation.
