(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police officers responded to 11 overdoses since Feb. 1 and nine since Tuesday, says Capt. Steve Kellams.
Those numbers only reflect responses by Bloomington police, not cases in which only emergency medical services or other agencies respond.
None of those 11 overdoses resulted in death, and in several cases, responders or bystanders administered the overdose-reversing drug naloxone, Kellams says.
Police responded to five of those overdoses in a six-hour period Wednesday.
Police are investigating the overdoses as connected to a single source of heroin.
The first incident was reported at 1:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the CVS at 2650 South Walnut Street.
A woman reported the man who was supposed to give her a ride appeared to be unconscious in his truck.
The woman administered Narcan and police and an ambulance responded.
Police say, the 36-year-old man regained consciousness and was taken to the hospital.
Police found syringes and a spoon in the cab of the truck.
Shortly after, police were called to the intersection of South Walnut Street and East Wylie streets after someone reported an unconscious man.
The caller told police he could not find a pulse, began CPR, then dialed 911. The caller then found a pulse. and eventually did find a pulse. He also saw several syringes and a spoon with residue near the man.
The 41-year-old man was taken to the hospital, where he regained conscious. The man told police he had done heroin Nd it was his first time to do the drug., Pedigo said. He told police he'd done heroin and it was his first time taking the drug.
At 5:37 p.m., police were called to a residence at the 1600 block of North Willis Drive. People at the residence told police they were in another room when they heard the 44-year-old man fall in the rear bedroom.
They found him 
unconscious on the floor but with a pulse. A spoon and cotton ball were found in the room. Officers administered Narcan, and the man was taken to the hospital.
Then at 6:20 p.m., officers were called to the 700 block of West Gourley Pike. Where they found a 28-year-old man passed out in the front seat of a car. They administered Narcan. The man regained consciousness and told police he'd smoked heroin.
At 9:52 p.m., a man who'd gone to a friend's apartment on the 500 block of West Lava Way reported he'd entered the apartment to find his 19-year-old friend unconscious. Police and an ambulance responded. A paramedic administered Narcan. The friend told police he knew the man used heroin.
