43rd Annual Lawrence County Spelling Bee, Feb. 6

(BEDFORD) - The 43rd Annual Lawrence County Spelling Bee begins Monday, February 6 at the Shafer Auditorium in Bedford.

1340 AM WBIW is hosting the event. Representatives from 16 schools are competing for the title and the public is invited to the free event to support their favorite contestant.

Elementary champions, grades 4-5, will begin competing Monday, February 6 in hopes to win the title and an opportunity to take on the middle school champions, grades 6-8 on Tuesday, February 7.

Competition begins at 4:30 p.m. both days at Schafer Auditorium and is free to attend.

If you can't attend the event, it will be broadcast on 1340 AM WBIW both days at 6:30 p.m. It will also be streaming online at WBIW.com

All participants will receive a 1340 AM WBIW Spelling Bee t-shirt and a certificate. The top three will also receive a bee bobble-head trophy. The overall Spelling Bee champion will receive a $100 savings scholarship provided by Bedford Federal Savings Bank and a pizza party for their homeroom class.

The Champion will then advance to the 2017 Derby Festival Spelling Bee at the Kentucky Center for The Arts.
