(WASHINGTON CO.) - Football teams were challenged to raise money for the Food Bank Fund in the Washington County Community Foundation this season by getting friends and family to pledge a certain dollar amount for every turnover that they forced.

The Salem Leader reports, Washington County high school football players raised more than $5,900 for the Food Bank Fund.

Plans are to make this an annual fundraiser. They hope to raise double the amount next season.
