Last updated on Wednesday, January 4, 2017

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police arrested two women New Year’s Day after they were caught by store security pushing shopping carts full of groceries and merchandise out of the Jackson Creek Kroger store.

Bloomington Police Department Capt. Steve Kellams says the women admitted to taking the items without paying. The woman took more than $500 in cookware, electronics, makeup and food items.

They were caught around 6:30 p.m. after store security spotted 23-year-old Kristy Redding of Bloomington and 67-year-old Connie Sowell of Unionville pushing the carts out of the store without paying for the items.

Capt. Kellams says the women are suspects in other incidents at the store, where thousands of dollars worth of items were taken.

Both women at this time are facing one charge of theft.
