Two Suffer Minor Injuries In Accident At Ind. 37 And Patton Hill Road

Last updated on Tuesday, January 24, 2017

(BEDFORD) - Two drivers suffered minor injures after a two-vehicle collision at Ind. 37 and Patton Hill Road on Monday morning.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 24-year-old Jonathon Hudson of Springville was traveling south on Ind. 37 while 33-year-old Aaron Thomas of Paoli was traveling north on Ind. 37.

Police say Thomas had a green light to turn west onto Patton Hill Road and proceeded to cross, when his 1991 Toyota pickup was struck in the side by Hudson's 1999 Dodge Ram.

Hudson told police he had been having problems with his heating core in the vehicle and couldn't see out of his windshield and didn't notice the red light until his passenger alerted him that the light had turned red. By that time it was too late to avoid the accident.

Hudson complained of body pain. Thomas suffered minor bleeding to his head.

Hudson was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way. Thomas was cited for driving while his driver's license was suspended.

Assisting at the scene were an IU Health Hospital ambulance, Oolitic Volunteer Fire Department first responders and Bedford Fire Department extrication team.
