(HELTONVILLE) - Two passengers were hurt Monday night after a deer ran out in front of the vehicle they were in.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 48-year-old Stephen Graham was traveling east on Ind. 58 near Alissa Lane around 8:13 p.m., when a deer ran into the path of his 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva.

Police say Graham swerved to miss the deer causing the vehicle to go off the east side of the roadway and enter a ditch. The vehicle then collided with a tree.

A backseat passenger, 46-year-old Amy Graham of Freetown, suffered minor bleeding to her forehead.

A front seat passenger; 21-year-old Adam Harrison, also of Freetown; complained of head pain after the airbags deployed.

Stephen Graham was not injured.

Assisting at the scene were an IU Health Hospital ambulance and Pleasant Run Volunteer Fire Department and the Bedford Fire Department.
