State Police Investigate Officer Involved Shooting In Crawford County

(CRAWFORD CO.) - Indiana State Police are releasing the name of the deceased involved in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday night in Crawford County.

45-year-old Richard A. Jackson of Louisville, Kentucky fled from the Harrison County Sheriff's Department around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday along Interstate 64 into Crawford County. Near the 84 mile marker, Jackson exited his vehicle and confronted Harrison County Deputies, at which point they fatally shot him.

The investigation into Jackson's death remains active by State Police detectives, and upon completion, will be forwarded to the Crawford County Prosecutor for review.

No further information is being released at this time.

Inquiries for information regarding the pursuit and actions taken leading up to the death of Jackson should be requested from the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.
