(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man was arrested Friday following a protest over the presidential inauguration.
Police say a number of buildings were vandalized after a group of 50 people dressed in dark-clothing gathered around 8:45 p.m. at People's Park. The protesters placed stickers on parking meters, filled the coin slots with what police say was super glue and threw paint-filled balloons at buildings, dumped trash cans in the streets and vandalized ATM machines.
Bloomington Police arrested 23-year-old Trevor Moore on charges of resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct and five counts of criminal mischief and rioting.
As protesters marched to Eighth Street and College Avenue, police watched Moore take a stick and strike a vehicle, damaging it. He then allegedly threw a brick through the window of the Old National Bank on Kirkwood Avenue.
Police say about an hour later, after the group began to disperse, they moved in to arrest Moore. He fled and was captured near Fourth and Dunn streets.
No other protesters were arrested but police will follow up with security camera footage from area businesses and have received tips and photos from bystanders of the protest.
