(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly used a belt to choke her while forcing her to preform a sexual act on him.
Lawrence County Police arrested 31-year-old Jermaine Thornton on felony charges of sexual battery, strangulation, intimidation.
According to Lawrence County Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, Thornton is accused of sexually, physically and emotionally abusing his girlfriend.
The woman told police that Thornton choked her with a cloth belt, cutting off her air supply. She asked him to stop, but he refused and threatened to kill her.
She says Thornton then forced her to a sex act on him while he was still choking her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
Then, the woman told police that Thornton used the belt, that had metal rings on it, to beat her.
The woman suffered bruising and complained of pain.
Thornton was arrested Wednesday and remains in the Lawrence County Jail on a $7,500 surety or $755 cash.
