(BEDFORD) - Hoosier Hills Credit Union has always given back to the communities and to charitable causes in areas where its members live and work.
Some of HHCU's 2016 activities included Relay for Life, Boys & Girls Club, 4-H and the county fairs, Perry County Memorial Hospital Foundation, and numerous parades and festivals, as well as financial donations to schools and other philanthropic groups.
Each holiday season, Hoosier Hills takes a strong focus on how employees can give back to the communities it serves. The Credit Union asks that every branch and department get involved in their local community in some way. With branches spread over Southern Indiana, from Lawrence County all the way down to Perry County, the Hoosier Hills Credit Union staff was able to help many different charities with donations of time, energy and money. Projects included local Humane Societies, providing gifts to help less fortunate children enjoy Christmas.
"Our goal is to help our members meet their financial needs and to help our communities prosper," said George McNichols, Hoosier Hills Credit Union President and CEO. "It's always gratifying to see how our employees, as well as Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee members, enjoy giving of themselves to brighten the holidays for others. We get as much or more from these projects than we give. In fact, many departments are already planning 2017 projects that they can do all year long."
McNichols estimates that over the years Hoosier Hills Credit Union has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to local charities and community projects. At the Credit Union's Christmas Dinner for staff and officials, 20 different community projects were showcased for all to see.
