Driver Fires Shot At Martin County Deputy, Flees

(LOOGOOTEE) - Police are looking for the driver of a car who shot at a Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy early this morning during a traffic stop on Mobley Road near Wildman Road.

Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Phillip Hensley says as the deputy began speaking with the driver around 5:16 a.m, the driver pulled out a handgun and fired a shot at the deputy.

The deputy returned fire.

The deputy was not injured.

The driver fled in what is believed to be a 2012-2017 light-colored Dodge Dart.

The car was last seen traveling eastbound on State Road 450 near Trip Road.

The shooter is a white male and was wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and blue jeans.
