Last updated on Monday, January 23, 2017

(BEDFORD) - Crews at the Bedford Parks Department will continue removing dead ash trees at the Otis Park Golf Course this week.

Last year the Bedford Tree Board reported there were 83 diseased or damaged trees on the course that needed to be removed because of safety concerns.

Most of the trees were ash trees that had been attacked and damaged by the emerald ash borer.

Park Board Director Barry Jeskewich told the Times Mail that 30 of those trees were removed last year and crews have removed another 16 so far this year.

Anyone wishing to collect firewood from the downed trees can by calling the parks office at (812) 275-5692.
