City Commission On The Status Of Black Males Seeks Nominations For Award

(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Black Males is seeking nominees for the 2017 Outstanding Black Male Leader of Tomorrow Award. The deadline for submission of nominations is January 31, 2017.

The Outstanding Black Male Leader of Tomorrow Award is presented annually to two Black/African-American men, high school and adult, for outstanding leadership, scholarship and involvement in making tangible, visible and meaningful contributions to the Bloomington community. To be eligible for the high school award, nominees must currently live in Bloomington/Monroe County and be enrolled in high school. To be eligible for the adult male award, nominees must currently live in Bloomington/Monroe County and not be older than 30 years of age.

Nominations must include the name, address, telephone number and email address of the nominee in addition to an attached letter that describes the nominee's personal and leadership characteristics that make this person deserving of the award. The nominator must also include his/her name, address, telephone number and email address.

Nomination forms are available online at bloomington.in.gov/csbm or in the City of Bloomington's Community and Family Resources Department, 401 N. Morton St., Suite 260. Send completed nomination forms with a letter by email to safeandcivil@bloomington.in.gov or by mail to City Hall, Community and Family Resources Department, P.O. Box 100, Bloomington, IN 47402.

Outstanding Black Male Leader of Tomorrow Award recipients will be honored at the Black History Month Gala on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Hilton Garden Inn.
