"Catch A Rising Star" To Perform At BNL Performing Arts Center Jan. 28

(BEDFORD) - Southern Indiana Live ON Stage presents, “Catch a Rising Star” a musical production on January 28 at the Bedford North Lawrence High School performing Arts Center.

The performers will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Those who aren't season subscribers can attend for $20.

"Indiana University is proud to present the "rising stars" from the Musical Theatre Program in the Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance. Forty-two talented students will excite and inspire you with songs and dances from Broadway to popular hits to American standards," the press release states.

Those attending the concerts are invited to a free opening act that showcases local performers. The Bedford Beats, described as "a true musical collaborative," will open from 6:30 p.m. until 7:15 p.m.

The group was born out of the first Bedford's Got Talent in the summer of 2015. Comprised of youths from Lawrence County, the group has a number of revolving members, including musicians and singers ranging in age from 11 to 18.

"The mission of Bedford Beats is to unite their community with the power of music. Their music encompasses the inspiration of several decades, from the classics to modern tunes, in their own Bedford Beats style," the press release states.

Members of the group are: Gavin Carter, lead guitar; Marshall Carter, violin and bass guitar; Patrick Fields, banjo and vocals; Zoe Randolph, keyboard and vocals; Marlit Carter, mandolin and vocals; Whitney Kirkman, vocals; Natalie Kirkman, vocals, and Corbin Bushey, drums.

Those attending the concert also will have the opportunity to see work by student artists from Bedford North Lawrence High School, the middle schools and elementary schools. The art will be displayed in the lobby of the preforming arts center.

The next event for Southern Indiana Live On Stage will be on March 25 when pop vocalist Melinda Doolittle performs at the PAC at 7:30 p.m.
