(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested early Wednesday morning after Bedford Police were called not once, but twice to Hamilton Courts.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were alerted to a group of people causing a disturbance by being loud and revving their engines at Hamilton Court apartments at 10:54 p.m.

"When the officers arrived there was no one there causing a disturbance," says Chief Parsley.

Officers were called back to the apartment at 11:20 p.m. and stopped a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Harold Leatherman.

"He showed all the signs of being intoxicated," Chief Parsley says. "Officers found he had a capped syringe and a baggie of a green-leafy substance."

The syringe tested positive for meth and the substance in the baggie tested positive for marijuana.

Leatherman was transported to the Bedford Police station for a breathalyzer test.

"Mr. Leatherman became uncooperative and was then transported to IU Health Hospital for a blood-draw," Chief Parsley added.

Leatherman was arrested on charges of possession of meth and marijuana, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle while never licensed, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.
