(BEDFORD) - The Indiana 4-H enrollment deadline is fast approaching. Lawrence County Families are urged to enroll by January 15, 2017. 4-H is a premier source of enjoyable, educational programs to help young people reach their full potential.

Plus enrollment is easier than ever with the 4-H Online system, https://in.4honline.com.

New 4-H Families are invited to attend New Member Orientation on January 26 from 6 p.m. till 7:30 p.m. at the Purdue Extension- Lawrence County Office. We know 4-H can be a little confusing with all of the opportunities available, and we are here to help.

Indiana 4-H is the state's largest youth development program for grades K-12, reaching more than 200,000 youth in all 92 counties.

In Lawrence County, approved adult volunteers teach young people specific skills related to a wide
variety of subjects through hands-on, experiential learning. Youth also develop leadership and citizenship skills by participating in one of Lawrence County's organized 4-H Clubs.

Subjects include: science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), agriculture, citizenship, healthy living, art, consumer and family sciences, and more.

In 2013, a Tufts University study showed that 4-H members also excel in positive youth development areas compared to peers, including:

Lawrence County 4-H is constantly expanding programming and ensuring we have something for everyone. Be on the lookout for new, short term opportunities with our SPARK Clubs. We are still looking for volunteers who have a cool interest or hobby that they would like to share with our members. We are currently finalizing details on our Painting, Sewing, and Cooking Clubs.

Youth may be enrolled in Lawrence County 4-H by January 15, 2017 online at https://in.4honline.com or by visiting the Purdue Extension-Lawrence County office, 924 16 th Street, Bedford, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

The $20 fee per child includes all Indiana 4-H program fees for members in grades 3-12.

For Mini 4-H members (grades k-2) the fee is $5. These fees include as many clubs and/or projects you would like.
