(BEDFORD) - A Paragon woman was arrested after she led police on a pursuit this morning.
The pursuit ended in the northbound lane of Ind. 37 near the car dealerships, south of White River
The pursuit began around 8 a.m. after Orleans police were alerted about an erratic driver coming through Orleans.
The driver of the vehicle, 44-year-old Paula Sue Chambers, was driving in the right lane when an Orleans officer noticed Chambers cut off another vehicle. The officer activated their lights in an attempt to pull over Chambers.
She refused to stop.
Police say the pursuit continued along Ind. 37 between 50 to 55 miles per hour along Ind. 37.
The Orleans officer then alerted Mitchell and Lawrence County Police for assistance.
"We assisted by setting up stop sticks at the bridge," says Lawrence County Sheriff Mike Branham who was at the scene. "The car stopped just before the bridge and the stop sticks."
Police arrested Chambers without incident. She is facing charges of resisting arrest by fleeing, driving with a suspended driver's license with a prior conviction, reckless driving and possession of meth.
