Woman And Child Hurt In Accident

Last updated on Monday, December 5, 2016

(BEDFORD) - A woman and child were hurt in an accident at the intersection of John Williams Boulevad and Becky Skillman Way, Thursday night.

According to a Bedford Police report, 44-year-old Rachel Hudson of Mitchell complained of knee, lower leg and foot pain and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Her passenger, 8-year-old David Troxel of Williams complained of head pain.

According to police, Hudson was stopped at the stop sign on Becky Skillman Way, preparing to make a left turn onto John Williams Boulevard in her 1996 Mercury Sable GS. At the same time, 25-year-old Khushboo Patel of Elkhart was driving east in the right lane on John Williams Boulevard in a 2008 Toyota Sienna.

Hudson told police Patel's vehicle had its right turn signal on, which led to her to think the van was turning onto Becky Skillman Way, so Hudson pulled onto John Williams Boulevard. That is when Patel's van struck the left side of Hudson's car.

Hudson was trapped in the car after the crash, and was freed from the wreckage by Bedford Fire Department extrication unit.

Assisting at the scene was an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew.
