(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman suffered hip and leg pain after she crashed her vehicle into a utility pole and mailbox on Tuesday morning.

According to a Bedford Police report, 43-year-old April Edwards of Bedford was traveling east on 25th Street from Washington Avenue when her 2002 Chevrolet Impala went off the south side of the road and struck a utility pole and mailbox.

Police say Edwards was frantic when they arrived at the scene at 7:28 a.m. complaining of pain to her upper left leg.

Edwards told police there was a vehicle in her lane of travel and she swerved to miss the vehicle. This action caused her to run off the roadway.

"During our short conversation, the driver passed out," Bedford Police Officer Booth wrote in his report. "I was able to revive her by using a sternum rub, but she was having trouble staying awake.

An ambulance crew arrived at the scene and transported Edwards to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.

St. Vincent emergency room staff called a few minutes later to report that Edwards refused medical attention and left the hospital.

"I searched the area, but was unable to locate the female," Officer Booth wrote. "She called dispatched several minutes later advising she was home and wanted to know the location of her vehicle."
