U.S. Marshal Arrests Former Lawrence County Resident On Child Molestation Charges

Last updated on Tuesday, December 6, 2016

(BEDFORD) - An Alaska man is facing child molesting charges in Lawrence County after being arrested by a United State Marshal while traveling from his home to New York.

44-year-old Tony White is facing two felony counts of child molesting. He is being held on $200,000 surety, or $20,005 cash bond.

According to Lawrence County Police Department Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, the U.S. Marshals Service contacted his office after the marshals received information White would be traveling from Alaska to New York on vacation.

A U.S. Marshal arrested White at a New York airport. Lawrence County Police then contracted a private extradition service to bring White back to Lawrence County.

According to a Lawrence County Superior Court II probable cause affidavit, the charges took place between September 2004 and June 2006.

On September 12, 2008, a girl told a Bedford Police Department detective that White had been molesting her since she was 11 years old. White lived in the same home.

She told police she would wake and White would be naked in her bed. The girl says White would touch her and perform oral sex on her.

When the child was 12, her mother caught White in the child's bed. White told the mother that he had started having "inappropriate" feelings for the girl.

The mother also caught White naked in bed with the girl one night in 2006. The mother told police that White started crying and claimed that he was only looking at the girl.
