Last updated on Thursday, December 1, 2016

(SEYMOUR) - A pursuit that began with an attempted traffic stop in Seymour late Friday evening ended with the arrest of a 49-year-old man in the Uniontown area.

Brian Wayne Roberts of Seymour faces Level 6 felony charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and possession of a handgun by a felon and a Class A misdemeanor charge of driving while his driver's license was suspended.

The pursuit began at 11:45 p.m. Friday when Seymour Officer Ben Miller reported that he was making a traffic stop at Tipton Street (U.S. 50) and U.S. 31.

The motorist in the vehicle didn't stop and fled south on U.S. 31 at a high rate of speed.

Police say speeds during the ensuing pursuit reached more than 90 miles per hour.

Officers from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and the Indiana State Police troopers assisted in the pursuit.

The pursuit ended when Roberts decided to stop in the Uniontown area, about nine miles south of Seymour.
