(GREENE CO.) - Three volunteers were recognized at the Volunteer Center of Greene County Volunteer Appreciation event on Tuesday, December 20 at the Carnegie Center.

The volunteers were nominated for their dedication and selflessness, according to the website of Generations, a program of Vincennes University's Community Services Division.

Larry Burger and Marge Frazier were two of the volunteers recognized by the Linton First Baptist ROC program, and Micki Church was recognized by Pregnancy Choices in Linton.

The organization was established in late July, with the help of a grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service and a match from Generations of Vincennes University. It has an active Facebook where many volunteer opportunities can be found. The the mission of the organization is to "connect residents with opportunities to serve in their community and add increased capacity to non-profit organizations within the county."

The program is free to join and invites all ages who want to make a difference in the Greene County community. Active volunteers need to commit many hours, though there are no restrictions based on education, income, age, experience, citizenship, race, gender or disability, according to the website.
