Norman Man Arrested For Armed Robbery Of Brownstown Convenience Store

Last updated on Monday, December 5, 2016

(BROWNSTOWN) - A Norman man was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly pointed a firearm while attempting to rob a Brownstown convenience store.

Brownstown police arrested 27-year-old James Sizemore at his home on charges of attempted armed robbery and pointing a firearm.

According to police on Friday at 12:17 a.m. officers responded to the Hucks Foods and Fuel at 113 West Commerce Street after a report of an armed robbery.

The man, later identified as Sizemore, demanded money from the attendant while displaying a firearm and then fled the scene. Sizemore did not get any cash or any other items from the store.

Brownstown officers, Jackson County Sheriff's Department deputies and a K-9 from the Seymour Police Department searched the area but could not locate Sizemore.

They did find evidence left at the scene - a mask that Sizemore used to attempt to hide his identity.

Police then reviewed the store's surveillance video and were able to identify Sizemore.

Police then went to Sizemore's home where they arrested him and recovered other evidence.

Seymour Police Chief Bill Abbott says they believe Sizemore is also responsible for the robbery of the Marathon Station on West Tipton Street.
